Kingston WA Retired, US Army, CW4 1 Puunene
After spending 24 years in the army, I retired in 1995 out of Ft Lewis WA. I spent 4 years in a retired mode. I mostly fished and if I wasn't doing that, I was preparing to do so. I fished all over Washington State, traveled back and forth to Alaska, and even returned to Hawaii to fish the tropical waters and of course, spend time with family.

Then I returned to the working force in 1999 after I received an offer I couldn't refuse -- a friend who  was still in the army recommended me and I was hired by a company that did contract work with the army. I became what was known back then as (and still do now I presume) as the DC Beltway Bandits. I helped develop the software to do what I did in the army by being a software engineer tester. But I hated the Washington DC area, the constant traffic, the noise, and the humid weather, especially in the summer. I wanted to work somewhere else.

The opportunity came in 2002 when I was hired by General Dynamics to teach the software I had helped develop and it was based out of Ft Lewis. I moved back from the East Coast to the more pleasant climate of the Pacific Northwest. I worked for 5 more years and traveled more than half the time i was working. I traveled to most of the army bases in the US including HI and AK, and several times to Kuwait and Iraq. In 2007 General Dynamis lost the contract and after being laid off, I decided not to go back to work. I've been retired since and I ENJOY it. I don't know who those folks are who retire and find it boring. I always have things to do and often don't have enough time to do it!

I've now moved from Puyallup to a home in Kingston which is much closer to the water. I have quick access to fresh and saltwater fishing and I've taken on kayaking as another hobby, both sea kayaking and whitewater kayaking. In addition to gardening, these hobbies keep me busy. But i do like to return to islands every year as I have family and friends on Maui and Oahu I like to visit. I'm looking forward to reconnecting with some of my high school friends and classmates.

Wailuku, Maui HI Tired teacher 7 Wailuku/Iao
The kids are grown and I'm home. I moved from Oahu back to Maui in 2006 to care for my mom and to teach English at Iao School. "Nestled 'neath the tropic mountains..."  (NOBODY knows the alma mater anymore.)  I have 6 daughters, 1 son, wonderful son-in-laws,  and 10 grandchildren.  I'm still re-discovering Maui and am anxious to re-discover old friends. Until we meet again....take care. Send Marvelee a MessageSend Marvelee a Message
