My journey during this fourth quadrant of life has been reflecting on how I got here.... post high school goals, raising a family, professional growth, retirement.I find myself thinking more and more about friends, family, and significant people who taught me how to navigate through “life’s” challenges. During this quadrant, I’m using my learnings through volunteerism. Presently, I volunteer at Kumu’s Cupboard, the teachers’ free store in Lihue. We stock almost everything a classroom teacher needs and often wants to teach concepts and skills to students. Helping as a counselor for the State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) is my other volunteer outreach. I’m still learning my role advising Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries about how and where to access information concerning their individual health needs. Building a better community is my goal which motivates me to begin each day renewed. |
